Bring on the heat!

So I've got a new project on my cutting table today! Last fall I decided I needed a pair of shorts to wear under my dresses when riding my bike to avoid any unwanted undie flashing. So I came up with a high waisted vintage inspired short that I've been wearing like crazy and loving them! Then this April I went to Las Vegas for the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend and I knew I'd need a 50s inspired suit to lounge by the pool in so I made myself THIS! After posting pics on the Facebook page I got a bunch of people asking when there would be some at the store. I promised I'd add the project to my to-do list and low and behold, I've actually started fulfilling that promise!

I made up a couple pair today and even cut out patterns in a few different sizes! My idea is to have a range of sizes made up on the racks and then I can custom make them on request in your size. Swim suits are so tricky to fit and you might be a small for the top and a large for the bottom. This way I can make you YOUR size! So, stay tuned for more and I do plan on making the multi-option reversible tube tops, too!

Momma's Day is around the corner!

So, it's that time of the year where Mom finally gets her due. Show that special lady in your life that has seen you at your worst and still loves you or that Wonder Woman who is always putting herself last and her family first. Recycled candy wrapper pouches WAAAHHT!?!

I forgot to show you the candy wrapper zippered pouches that came in today from Funk Your Junk in Ottawa! They're so adorable and sweet! Pun intended. How awesome is the Archie comic one!?! It's got Archie Meets Kiss on the other side. LOVE IT!

Long time no post!

Sorry for not keeping you guys up to date on what's been going on at Sew Dandee these days! I'm back and I've got lots to share with you!


I'll get the sad news out of the way right away. Local designer, Wanda June has decided to take a permanent hiatus from the sewing world. Her life has been taken in a new direction and sewing has to take a back seat for now. We wish her nothing but the best in her new endeavors and send her many thanks for her wonderful creations!

On that note, all our Wanda June items are now 50% off so come and get your one of a kind piece before they're all gone! I've still got some great hats, a couple dresses and one hoodie left!

We've introduced some new crafters and products to the Sew Dandee scene as of late worth giving a mention!



First meet Kara of Cat Haus! She dabbles in all kinds of crafty mediums like silk screening, pin making and mixed media brooches. Check her stuff out!



Most of you know the name Just The Goods by now. If you don't, you gotta get in the know! Local creator, Milena is working her butt off making us eco-friendly, safe, healthy, vegan and all around amazing body products and they've been flying off the Sew Dandee shelves. She's recently added deodorant to her collection and I can speak from experience, it's fantastic! Come down and check out her entire line. There's something perfect for everyone.

Local seamstress, Grace brought in a couple more of her adorable circle pocket skirts perfect for the spring days that are JUST around the corner, I know it!


And I even found time to rework this fantastic skirt into an adorable, flowy dress!


We've got tons of fantastic patches in stock right now too made by Boomerang 360, Cat Haus, Dandy Denial and yours truly! And I've got some new silk screens in the works to add to this already awesome collection!







My aprons are still a hot item so I've been making more! These are my favorite thing to make these days so I'm glad you love them too!

In an effort to make room for some spring wear, I've marked down a TON of stuff here at the store in both the gently worn and handmade sections. So come give that closet of yours a burst of new duds! You deserve it!

So I've finally figured out how to make a lined bag with a zipper with the straps sewn into the seams!! This opens up so many design doors for my bags! Needless to say, I'm pumped.


Here's what I've come up with so far and I'm cutting more out today so stay tuned!








And more good news! Milena of Just The Goods brought by some fresh stock in her shaving solids, body butters and her NEW deodorant!

I've been using it for the past couple months now and it works great! As a person who has tried TONS of natural deodorants trying to avoid the dreaded aluminum, parabens, glycols and all that other crap that we DON'T need and can make us sick, Just The Goods has finally hit the mark. Free and clear of all chemicals and perfume yet still keeps me smelling good. She's got a few options with essential oils like lavender, citrus or cedar perfect for both ladies and gentlemen. It comes in a roll on glass bottle and she also offers a refill bottle so you can reuse the glass bottle. Yay for the environment and Yay for our pits! First off I want to thank everyone who helped make 2011 a great year for Sew Dandee! Your support and kind words mean so much to me and without you there would be no Sew Dandee. It wasn't a great year for retail overall but what a wonderful, much needed surprise it was to end up having the BEST DECEMBER EVER for Sew Dandee! You guys are the awesomest and I love each and every one of you! Let's continue to keep this handmade revolution going into 2012 and keep our local businesses alive!


Lucky me, I get to skip town for a few days come this Friday! My honey and I are off to Vancouver for a holiday with my Mom and we can't wait! We'll be open here at the store as usual over the weekend but I have to close up the shop on Monday and Tuesday. I'll be back at the store come Wednesday January 11th working on more aprons, silk screened dish towels and a bunch of new projects!


I'm also waiting on more of the Dark Cycle shirts to come in since they were such a huge hit. This time around I got more of the grizzly bear, buck and a new design that I hope you'll love as much as I do!
